Information is the Seed of Growth.

People attend college to gain information or knowledge; people also read books, listen to podcasts, and enroll in programs at prestigious universities to gain certificates of accomplishment. All for what? To seed their minds for growth.

The real world (manufacturing) application, has a very similar formula: to gain information in order to turn that into something that can be converted for company growth. Manufacturing tends to use information and the process to utilize that information a little differently than the human brain, though. Surrounded by information at all times, humans and even machines can get overwhelmed by the immense amount of data points floating around in our spaces. It is generally, what we do with these data points that get converted into intelligence.

When we talk about information in the manufacturing industry, we are typically speaking of data. There is an overload of data in many organizations stored away in file cabinets in each corner of every manufacturing office. It can be difficult to understand this information if it isn’t being used in a meaningful way, especially if it’s just being stored in a cabinet. It’s a human choice to either keep the data where it is or find the potential for its use. We all process information/ data differently that can lead to a significant advantage over competitors if we allow information to drive new decision-making.

What’s The Best Growth Strategy?

There are so many ways companies try to formulate new growth strategies by using new products, new team members, service innovations, among many other creative ways. But, many organizations fall short, because they do not realize that they are sitting on one of their most valuable resources every day. By just creating a plan around collecting vital company information, it will allow organizations to gain deeper insights into every area of their business. Storing information in a more convenient way that every decision-maker has access to will allow companies to implement a growth strategy with a core of data.

Developing growth strategies around information will allow companies to innovate and play to their strengths as well as pick up for their weaknesses. Having these insights can really propel a company forward and have something to continuously innovate if they are always surrounded by the right information.
